Earlier in the morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama blessed a ‘March for World Peace’ initiative led by a group of 40 Thai Buddhist monks of the Sthavira school of thought and also had lunch with 40 monks from Thailand.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama participated in a short prayer service with the group inside the main temple, before they started their peace march which will conclude in Leh, Ladakh.
“We are having this yatra for the world peace and to share with the world about peace of mind based on the Lord Buddha’s teachings. All these confusions in the world can be solved with understanding Buddha Dharma,” said one of the monks participating in the march.
On being asked about their meeting with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, he replied,”It was great. His Holiness talked about similarities in our beliefs, because the teachings of the four noble truth, Vinaya and Sudha came from the same teacher, therefore our thinking is similar in many ways.”
The group had a meeting with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his residence on 20 May, organised by the Thai-Dharamshala Charity Society, based in Dharamshala.
